Former PSD deputy and current councilor of the Social Democrats Eduardo Teixeira will be the head of the Chegi list from the Viana do Castelo circle, confirmed this Thursday the leader of the party, indicating that Rita Matias will be the first candidate in Setúbal.
“I can now confirm that former PSD deputy Eduardo Teixeira and PSD councilor of the city council will be the head of the Chegi list in the Viana do Castelo district,” said André Ventura, indicating that there have been “several months of negotiations on a rapprochement.”
André Ventura spoke to journalists at the Assembly of the Republic, also noting that Rita Matias, the deputy elected for the Lisbon constituency in 2022, will lead the Chega por Setúbal list in the legislative elections on March 10.
Bruno Nunez, who led Setubal’s list in the last elections, will join the Lisbon list, Ventura said, noting that “he is a councilor in Loures.”
“Deputy Pedro Frasan will head the list of Chega por Santarem, repeating the candidacy that already took place in 2022,” added the party leader.
This Thursday, the PSD council of Viana do Castelo announced that it has immediately withdrawn political confidence from the councilor and activist Eduardo Teixeira for disrespecting this political structure and tarnishing the name of the party.
Later, in Luse’s statements, Eduardo Teixeira accused the party council of restricting the freedom of citizens by ensuring that the body could not deprive members of political confidence.
On this occasion, Andre Ventura also again addressed the situation in Madeira, insisting that the president of the regional government, Miguel Albuquerque, as well as the president of the Funchal city council, Pedro Calado, should resign or at least suspend their mandates. .
The Chegi leader also said that the PSD president should “immediately withdraw political confidence” from the two leaders.
Ventura also criticized the reaction of Luis Montenegro, who on Wednesday refused to compare the investigations involving Madeira’s government president and Prime Minister António Costa, arguing that “there are more than a lot of differences.”
“I don’t understand how we can use one word for one case and another word for another,” he said, accusing Montenegro of trying to “whitewash the situation.”
The president of the regional government of Madeira, Miguel Albuquerque, was named on Wednesday as a defendant in a trial that led to the arrest of the mayor of Funchal and two leaders of the AFA construction group.
The Judicial Police carried out approximately 100 searches in Madeira (including the residence of Miguel Albuquerque) and in various locations on the continent as part of an investigation into alleged crimes related to active and passive corruption, economic participation in business, malfeasance, improper receipt or offering of benefits, abuse of power and abuse of influence.
