The IL leader assures that the party is ready to integrate the executive branch with the PSD, but does not rule out a parliamentary agreement, dissociating himself from the “hard position” of Luis Montenegro, who refuses to form a government if he loses the elections.

In an interview with Lusa on the occasion of the March 10 legislative elections, Rui Rocha rejects prejudices against minority governments and recalls that the political crisis that led to early elections arose because the socialist executive had an absolute majority and which “not everything goes well”.

According to the IL leader, an SDP minority government with Liberals is a “predictable, acceptable and desirable scenario” that ensures “this is not a failure” and that is why he maintains his refusal to integrate any solution that matters. with participation He arrives.

“We are ready to go to government, but we also agree to analyze other types of scenarios, an agreement on parliamentary influence, whatever is most suitable so that the transformation of the country we are talking about can be realized,” he emphasizes. .

According to Rui Rocha, “if it becomes possible to create a PSD government with the Liberal Initiative, other politicians will have to take their responsibility and decide what to do.”

Repeating the arguments about the IL’s refusal to join the electoral coalition and present itself in its own lists, Rui Rocha, as one example, points to the position of PSD leader Luis Montenegro, according to which he will govern the country only if he wins the elections.
