Several hundred people have already gathered in Lisbon for a protest for the right to housing, aimed at putting the issue at the center of the debate in the March 10 elections.
At 15:20, 20 minutes after the planned start of the protest announced by the Casa Para Viver platform, a growing mass of people occupied the beginning of Avenida Almirante Reis, next to the Alameda House of Afonso Enrique, where banners, posters and flags of various associations were displayed.
In a kind of dress rehearsal before the start of the march, which will pass through several streets of the capital, the sound of drums begins to be heard, which sets the rhythm of the soundtrack, but the slogans are saved until the moment they begin.
From there, the demonstration, where thousands of people are expected, will head to Arco da Rua Augusta, where, in addition to performances by the organizers, there will also be concerts by artists such as Catarina Branco, John Douglas, Luca Argel and Luis Severo. .
The protest, organized by a collective of more than 100 associations, will be repeated this Saturday in at least 19 cities: Albufeira, Aveiro, Beja, Benavente, Braga, Coimbra, Covilhã, Évora, Faro, Funchal, Lagos, Leiria, Lisbon. Portalegre, Portimao, Porto, Setubal, Sines and Viseu.
This is the third action for the right to housing organized by the organization Casa Para Viver, which wants to commemorate the election campaign for the early legislative elections that will take place on March 10.
