PS said this Wednesday that it sees no benefit in extending the BE-suggested commission of inquiry goal to political governance of TAP between 2020 and 2022, but acknowledged that it is reviewing the proposed PCP extension to 2015.
The SDP, on the other hand, stated that it had nothing to object to, in contrast to Chega, who believed that this would “destroy the commission of inquiry”.
These positions were put forward by the PS and SDP parliamentary leaders, as well as the leader of Chegi, interviewed by journalists in parliament, after the PKP announced this morning that it had proposed to other parties that the parliamentary commission of inquiry on the TAR be “more comprehensive”. and its scope expanded to “private management and company privatization in 2015”.
On January 6, BE submitted a text to Parliament proposing that a commission of inquiry “under the political control of the TAP leadership” focus, inter alia, between 2020 and 2022, on investigating the entry and exit of former ruler Alexandra Reis and security duties in decisions made.
PS parliamentary leader Eurico Brillante Diaz stated that the party agreed to make the investigation proposed by BE viable because the goal seemed adequate to him.
“When we greatly expand the scope of the parliamentary commission of inquiry, we run the risk of being less focused and not focusing our efforts on pressing issues (…), we do not see much advantage in its significant expansion. “, – he said, although he noted that this is not the “final position”.
As for the leader of the SDP parliament, Joaquim Miranda Sarmento, he said that the party has nothing against this extension to include “repeal of privatization, nationalization in 2020” and even the sale process.
“We don’t have a problem with that,” he said.
Chega President Andre Ventura felt that the expansion of the facility would be “destroying the commission of inquiry” and accused PCP of wanting to make a “burden to the government”.
“Chega will be categorically against it. If we agree to expand this area, we will make any commission of inquiry useless,” he said.
