This Sunday, the PAN spokesman asked the security forces to allow legislative elections to take place and not to give in to “populist speeches”, and said that the government, despite being in power, can respond to their demands.
“We call on these security forces to allow the elections to take place, to contribute to stability and the restoration of democracy and, above all, not to be led by populist and easy talk,” Ines Sousa Real said in statements to reporters at the Watch Fair in Lisbon.
The PAN representative recalled that the Assembly of the Republic is currently dissolved, which “makes it very difficult to monitor the actions of the government”, and stressed that if legislative elections do not take place, “the government will be able to do whatever it wants and will continue in a transitional manner” .
