PS Azores will meet with the regional secretariat and commission on Thursday in Ponta Delgada on the island of São Miguel to analyze the political situation after the regional legislative elections, a party source told Luse on Tuesday.
According to the same source, first a regional secretariat will meet, chaired by PS Açores leader Vasco Cordeiro, and then a regional commission with board chairman Sérgio Avila in charge of carrying out the work.
However, according to the same source, the meetings will take place at 18:30 local time (one hour later in Lisbon) at the hotel and will analyze the political situation resulting from Sunday’s regional legislative elections and the future.
The PSD/CDU/PPM coalition won regional elections in the Azores with 42.08% of the vote and 26 deputies, three elected representatives short of an absolute majority, according to preliminary official results.
Jose Manuel Bolheiro, leader of the right-wing coalition that has governed the Azores since 2020, said he would rule with a “relative majority” for the next four years.
The PS is the second force in the archipelago with 23 mandates (35.91%), followed by Chega with five mandates (9.19%).
The Left Bloc (2.54%), the Liberal Initiative (2.15%) and the People-Animals-Nature party (1.65%) each elected one regional deputy, adding to the 57 elected.
