Montenegro promises family medicine for everyone by the end of 2025

The AD leader promised this Wednesday to “respond to family medicine for all Portuguese by the end of 2025” during a visit to the Misericórdia de Setúbal, which guarantees family medicine care to 123 users without a family doctor.

“As I have presented in terms of ideas and explained in terms of models, this visit to Santa Casa da Misericordia de Setúbal demonstrates that the National Health Service, when it works hand in hand with the private sector and the social sector, In this case, it is possible to solve people’s problems,” said Luis Montenegro.

“This institution was the first in the country to implement a project called Bata Branca, in which it offers daily care to 123 family medicine users, people who do not have a family doctor,” added the leader of the Democratic Alliance. coalition comprising PSD, CDS/PP and PPM.

According to Luis Montenegro, this type of “collaboration between the National Health Service and the social sector of Misericordias, if it spreads throughout the country, could provide the answer that the Portuguese should have access to the National Health Service. family medicine consultation and, through it, necessary treatment.”

“So this is a demonstration that our proposal, our idea is achievable, feasible. And often this even has the result, in terms of managing public resources, whether human resources or financial resources, more efficient than what is currently offered in many medical institutions,” he said.

“Our goal, within the framework of the emergency program for the health sector, which we will present and approve in the first 60 days of the government, is to extend this project throughout the country by the end of 2025, with a contract with the social sector first and foremost, and ultimately, even in the private sector, it can provide answers to family medicine questions for all Portuguese,” reiterated Luís Montenegro.

During the electoral initiative in the Setubal district, which began with a ferry trip between Lisbon and Casillas (Almada), followed by a visit to Misericordia, the AD leader was also received at the Episcopal House for lunch with the bishop. from Setúbal, D. Americo Aguiar.
