The BE Coordinator said this Thursday that the government has an “obligation” to address the problem it has created by “discriminating” against PSP and GNR in terms of mission complement, given that these professionals have distanced themselves from attempts at instrumentalization.

“The government created this problem. The PSP, GNR, security forces are absolutely right in their demands, be it demands for wages, working conditions or demands for risk subsidies. According to the BE leader, “the government created the problem” and therefore has a “responsibility to solve it.”

When asked whether there were attempts to use these police forces as tools, Mariana Mortagua expressed regret at their existence, but stressed that “the experts themselves tried to avoid any attempts to use these police tools and tried to communicate to them their demands.”

“That is why I have always said that these demands are well founded, and that is why I have said that I think it is wrong for there to be threats or warnings of protests that could jeopardize democratic processes,” he reiterated.

Considering that “the demands are more than fair,” the bloc coordinator emphasized that “the parties are united in the need to equalize subsidies and the need to value salaries and careers.”

“Let’s focus on solutions and what’s fair. The police and the PNP have every reason to be outraged by the current situation and therefore this situation of discrimination must be addressed and that is our priority,” he said.
