BE says the government has a responsibility to fix the police problem it created.

The BE Coordinator said this Thursday that the government has an “obligation” to address the problem it has created by “discriminating” against PSP and GNR in terms of mission complement, given that these professionals have distanced themselves from attempts at instrumentalization.

Mariana Mortagua visited the Liceu Camões in Lisbon this Thursday and at the end she was questioned by journalists about the PSP and GNR protests, a day after it became known that the number of information services employees was increased and they simultaneously pursued a review career. a time when the addition to the mission was entrusted to judicial police agents.

“The government created this problem. The PSP, GNR, security forces are absolutely right in their demands, be it demands for wages, working conditions or demands for risk subsidies. The government has created discrimination, created differentiation and ignored these demands for too long, and therefore the government has an obligation to respond to these demands, which are fair,” he said.

According to the BE leader, “the government created the problem” and therefore has a “responsibility to solve it.”

When asked whether there were attempts to use these police forces as tools, Mariana Mortagua expressed regret at their existence, but stressed that “the experts themselves tried to avoid any attempts to use these police tools and tried to communicate to them their demands.”

“That is why I have always said that these demands are well founded, and that is why I have said that I think it is wrong for there to be threats or warnings of protests that could jeopardize democratic processes,” he reiterated.

Considering that “the demands are more than fair,” the bloc coordinator emphasized that “the parties are united in the need to equalize subsidies and the need to value salaries and careers.”

“Let’s focus on solutions and what’s fair. The police and the PNP have every reason to be outraged by the current situation and therefore this situation of discrimination must be addressed and that is our priority,” he said.

Regarding the statements of the President of the Republic, who advised the security forces not to lose the support of the Portuguese, given that their cause has already received widespread support from the parties, Mariana Mortagua insisted that “the government has responsibility in this matter.” and that this should solve the problem.”

“We have already witnessed government intervention in various areas, with various decisions being taken over the past few months. The main thing is to solve this problem,” he challenged.

If we are talking about pre-election obligations, then, according to the leader of the bloc, the party “from the very beginning took upon itself obligations to equalize subsidies for risks.”

“And long before this, in all state budgets, it presented proposals for career assessment, for salary assessment and, therefore, it seems to me that it is on the side of the government, which not only created discrimination, but was also aimed at preventing the approval of these proposals and increased salaries and careers,” he emphasized.
