Pedro Nuno Santos available for debate with three AD coalition leaders

This Thursday, the Secretary General of the PS was available for a new debate with the PSD, after refusing a personal radio debate, on the condition that it would involve Luis Montenegro, Nuno Melo and Gonçalo da Camara Pereira.

“I can accept the tenth debate on one condition, because Luis Montenegro wants Nuno Melo to participate in the debate. [PSD]with Nuno Melo [CDS-PP] and with Gonçalo da Camara Pereira [PPM] – leaders of the parties that make up the Democratic Alliance (AD) coalition,” said Pedro Nuno Santos upon his arrival at the Fábrica 2030 conference, organized by the online newspaper ECO, in Porto.

The Socialist said that if the SDP accepted this condition, it would hold the debate with equal amounts of time for the four participants.

“As in the 2015 and 2019 legislative elections, the radio stations also invited the leaders of the two largest parties, PS and PSD, to meet each other. Luis Montenegro agreed, Pedro Nuno Santos refused the debate, so it will not take place.” This is stated in a statement sent by the editorial staff of Antena 1, Observador, Renascença and TSF, published on Tuesday evening, announcing that these radio stations will organize the last debate with all leaders with seats in Parliament on the 26th.

On Wednesday, the PSD president confirmed his “full readiness” for further debates with the PS leader.

Pedro Nuno Santos rejected the idea that he was running away from a debate with Luis Montenegro, with whom he recalled he already had a debate scheduled.

“I have nine debates to go and I need to campaign, I need to be on the streets, I need to go to hospitals, I need to go to schools, I need to talk to people,” he stressed.
