The Secretary General of the PCP said this Thursday that he has no idea that Luis Montenegro will miss the personal meeting next Saturday at the RTP, admitting, however, that he discussed “agenda decisions” so that the debate could take place.
Speaking to journalists in Sines, the PKP secretary general assured that he will be present in the debate on the legislative elections scheduled for next Saturday on RTP 1 between the leaders of the HDZ and the AD (PSD/CDS-PP/PPM).
“I will be there on Saturday evening at RTP to develop the debate, and it does not occur to me that Luis Montenegro will not appear in the debate that we agreed on long ago to discuss higher wages, distribution of better wealth [e] national manufacturing sector,” he said.
When asked about the possibility of holding the debate on another day, Paulo Raimundo explained that the PCP is ready to find “solutions on the agenda” in order to hold it.
“If any difficulties arise that, from the point of view of the agenda, prevent this debate from being held on Saturday, when it is scheduled, we will definitely, with the assistance of television, find the opportunity to hold this debate,” he assured on the sidelines of an action with workers of the oil refinery in Galpa.
However, despite the PCP’s willingness to set a new date, Paulo Raimundo rejected the idea that Luis Montenegro would not attend the debate.
“It does not occur to me that Luis Montenegro will not be present at the debate, but if he is not there, I will find ways to tell him what I would say to him in the debate,” he stressed.
Answering a question about the possible participation of SDS-PP leader Nuno Melo in the debate instead of Montenegro, Paulo Raimundo replied that in this case the AD representative “would have to debate with another candidate other than the Secretary General.” PKP.”
“If the TV channels admit that Nuno Melo will go to the debate, then naturally we will not miss the debate. This is not with the secretary general of the PCP,” he said.
Regarding the possibility of PS Secretary General Pedro Nuno Santos participating in a radio debate with the three AD coalition leaders, Paulo Raimundo said he sees the proposal “as a carnival game.”
“We are here in the country [Sines] that the unusual tradition of carnival, carnival here in Sines is very strong, I am a good reveler myself and therefore I can only understand it as a carnival game at a time when we are so devoted to this holiday,” he joked.
“Pedro Nuno Santos’ statement about the four-way debate is an ironic statement, I cannot understand it any other way, and here we are slipping forward,” he added.
“The problem is that we have the reality of the country, I say again, 900 million euros from this company. [Galp] which is more than capable of significantly increasing wages for all workers, and this is what needs to be discussed, responsibility and paths to the future,” he emphasized.
