Ines Souza Real attacks Mariana Mortagua, criticizes the internal opposition and joins firefighters in police protests. The PAN leader said in an interview with CMTV that there is no shortage of funds to implement the measures, but money is being lost due to corruption.

The leader of the People-Animals-Nature Party (PAN) became the fourth guest at the event. CMTV in a series of interviews with major party leaders in the context of the March 10 legislative elections.

Ines Sousa Real began the interview by condemning Luis Montenegro’s intention not to participate in the debate with Livre and the CDU. “This is inappropriate treatment, we must respect our opponents.”

The MP was responding to recent comments by former PAN MP André Silva, who accused the party of having “lost its core”. “I don’t see myself in the comment. Sorry. I have a very short memory,” adds the PAN leader.

Ines Sousa Real takes credit for PAN’s work in the coalition in Madeira and accuses Andre Silva of not doing a better job when he led the party.

PAN leader praises the work done in Madeira

Ines Souza Real emphasized that in Madeira PAN showed that “it is possible to break the majority of Miguel Albuquerque.” The deputy recalled that the party included a number of measures in the regional budget.

The politician once again mentioned that the MHP in parliament was the party that presented the most measures.

Ines Souza Real responded to the Left Bloc

Ines Sousa Real defended the party and its work in the face of harsh criticism from Mariana Mortagua, who said that the PAN in Madeira and the Azores was an example of “political fraud” and that environmental attacks in Madeira had now stripped the party of its signature.

“I have no right to be angry with members of other parties. It was the Bloc de Esquerda that extended the path of the far right,” he replied.

Ines Sousa Real also made a distinction between the Democratic Alliance and the PSD.

“Talking about SDP is not the same as talking about AD. The PSD has become closer to the extreme right,” he recalled, outlining the lines of a possible coalition before criticizing PNM leader Gonçalo da Camara Pereira.

Ines Souza Real also pointed out a number of shortcomings in both the health and education sectors. “If people want their interests represented, they don’t vote for PS or PSD,” he said.

PAN leader joins firefighters as they comply with police demands

In addition to the protesting police officers, Ines Souza Real argued that firefighters should also receive risk pay. “If it’s fair that the PS gets it, then the firefighters should get it too,” he explained.

The PAN leader said the problem is not “lack of money,” but their sewer system, which she says is lost due to corruption.

“More resources are needed to prevent crime,” he stressed.

The PAN representative also recalled the farmers’ protests and said that it is not the environmental reason that affects agricultural funds.

“It is not the environmental problem that is jeopardizing the money that can flow into agriculture, but the lack of vision of the agriculture minister.”

Interviews continue on CMTV

The first to be interviewed was Paulo Raimundo of the PCP, who, among other proposals, defended on Monday reduction in fees and commissions charged by banks.

Livre’s Rui Tavares explained on Tuesday that it would be “better for Portugal to have a plurality on the left flank.”

On Wednesday, Pedro Nuno Santos of the Socialist Party said categorically that “it is bad for democracy when the Socialist Party and the PSD are committed to the same governance.”

Interviews will continue on Friday with Bloc de Esquerda leader Mariana Mortagua. Rui Rocha (Liberal Initiative) and Andre Ventura (Cega) conclude the debate on Sunday.

The date of the interview with Luis Montenegro (Democratic Alliance) has not yet been determined.
