National Coordinator of the Left Bloc (LB) Mariana Mortagua was the fifth guest at the event. CMTVin a series of interviews with major party leaders in the context of the March 10 legislative elections.
Mariana Mortagua accused the Right of attacking her after a blocker shared her grandmother’s story in a debate with Luis Montenegro. “I can’t admit that I’m being accused of lying,” he says, recalling that Christas’ Law led to the eviction of many people.
“I find it incredible that they say I didn’t tell the truth,” he concluded.
The blocker also presented the party’s measures to support Portuguese people in accessing housing. “Nobody can afford a T1,” he said, and also defended maximum house rent caps.
“We cannot accept T1 for 1300 euros.”
The MP clarified that banks such as Caixa Geral de Depósitos may have a different interest rate policy to support the Portuguese. Mortagua recalls that the bank in question has large profits, which allows for this change.
Regarding the construction of more houses and familiarization with the Bloc’s accounts, which amount to 60 thousand euros for the construction of each house, Mortagua explained that “these are indicative values” and that it will be feasible.
Mortagua sums up socialist government but doesn’t point fingers at Pedro Nuno Santos
“The government of the absolute majority has made a choice in the housing sector. Before and after the mandate of Pedro Nuno Santos. We give a negative assessment to the measures.”
When asked directly whether the balance of Pedro Nuno Santos’s mandate was negative, the blocker replied that the entire socialist government had failed.
“Governance depends on concrete measures,” Mortagua said when asked whether the PS leader would be a good prime minister.
Mariana Mortagua criticized the Medina Foundation
Blocker believes that the Medina Fund is not a solution for Portugal as the country has more pressing issues to deal with, which is incompatible with saving money for future investment.
The BE leader argues that “private is part of the answer” to health issues, but advocates for greater investment in social media. “The public can never refuse a client. When complications arise, patients end up at the door of the public.”
The MP also argued that measuring taxes on large futures “is a matter of fairness” and that this happens in other countries.
Mortagua recalled the demands of the police and assured that the government is responsible for the problem that currently affects the police.
Interviews continue on CMTV
The first to be interviewed was Paulo Raimundo of the PCP, who, among other proposals, defended on Monday reduction in fees and commissions charged by banks.
Livre’s Rui Tavares explained on Tuesday that it would be “better for Portugal to have a plurality on the left flank.”
On Wednesday, Pedro Nuno Santos of the Socialist Party said categorically that “it is bad for democracy when the Socialist Party and the PSD are committed to the same governance.”
Ines Souza Real on Thursday attacked Mariana Mortagua and criticized the opposition of her own party’s former deputy Andre Silva.
