A 72-year-old woman was found this Saturday dead in bed in a stiff state and with signs of being shot from a pistol in Mazes, Lazarim parish, Lamego. The murder suspect, Manuel da Costa, 64, the victim’s husband, was also in the same room with serious head injuries after shooting himself with the same weapon.
The warning was transmitted to authorities around lunchtime. Firefighters and the INEM medical team arrived on the scene, confirmed the death of Herminia Costa and treated the killer, who was then taken to the Vila Real Hospital, where he was admitted to the intensive care unit.
GNR closed the crime scene and alerted PJ, who took over the investigation.
