Although rain and wind will continue over the next few days, temperatures will rise slightly on Carnival Tuesday the 13th with little chance of rain during the afternoon.
The Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) forecasts rain on the Portuguese mainland, with intensity in the northern and central regions. According to the IPMA, strong winds sometimes blow in the highlands.
On Tuesday, a day with so many Carnival parades, minimum and maximum temperatures will be above normal for February, according to the IPMA. The minimum temperature will be from 10° to 16°C, lower values for the northern and central parts of the country will be from 5° to 10°C, and the maximum will be from 15° to 22°C.
Wood
According to the IPMA, Madeira is expected to experience periods of cloudiness and light rainfall on Monday. Winds are expected to be light to moderate during Carnival Tuesday, shifting to an easterly/southeasterly direction.
Minimum temperatures will range from 15° to 18°C and from 7° to 12°C in mountainous areas. The maximum temperature will be from 18 to 24 degrees, and in the highlands – from 15 to 16 degrees.
Azores
This Monday, IPMA expects wind gusts of up to 85 km/h on the Western Group islands and up to 80 km/h on the Central Group islands. In the Eastern group, the wind will be weaker, with gusts up to 60 km/h.
On Carnival Tuesday, IPMA forecasts the passage of a frontal system that will cause rainfall in the Central and Eastern groups. On the islands of Flores and Corvo, winds will continue to blow at speeds of up to 80 km/h. In the Central group the wind will blow up to 75 km/h, in the Eastern group – up to 75 km/h.
Minimum temperatures will range from 14° to 15°C and maximum temperatures will range from 18° to 19°C.
