On the day of the crime, the man sent his children a message saying he loved them. He then took the woman to the beach, where he attacked her nine times with a hammer before dousing her with petrol and setting her on fire.
A citizen who was passing by at the time of the crime tried to save the couple, but Clark pushed the man.
Emergency services arrived at the scene and tried to help the seriously wounded Elena. She was nevertheless taken to the hospital, but she did not survive and died two days later.

The discussions in the days before the murder began following Clark’s confession, which revealed that he had been having an affair with another woman and that he had even booked a holiday to Australia to see his lover again.
