IPMA extends yellow warning for Central Azores group due to rain

The Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) extended the yellow warning already issued for the islands of the Central Azores group until Tuesday afternoon due to forecasts of heavy rain.

The central group islands (Terceira, São Jorge, Pico, Graciosa and Faial) were under a yellow warning until 07:00 local time on Tuesday (08:00 in Lisbon), but the IPMA extended the warning until 17:00 local time (18 :00 in Lisbon) due to the forecast of “precipitation, heavy in places.”

Also according to the IPMA statement, in the group of Eastern Azores (Sao Miguel and Santa Maria) a yellow warning, also due to “rain, sometimes heavy”, is in effect from 14:00 local time (15:00 in Lisbon) until 23 :00 local time. time is Tuesday (00:00 Wednesday, in Lisbon).

A yellow warning, the least severe on a scale of three, is issued whenever a risk situation arises for certain activities due to weather conditions.
