Following an investigation launched by the PSP, the Judicial Police arrested three suspects in the Odivelas area for crimes of qualified kidnapping, serious coercion, attempted qualified extortion, home invasion and possession of a prohibited weapon.
A statement released this Wednesday by the Lisbon Metropolitan Command (Cometlis) of the PSP said that three men, aged 21, 24 and 28, were arrested on Tuesday by the judicial police at the scene of the crime and brought to court. Loures for the first judicial interrogation, while coercive measures are still unknown.
According to the PSP report, the “criminal activities” against the 26-year-old victim began at 22:00 last Sunday and ended at 23:00 on Monday, when he managed to escape from his home in the Canesas (Odivelas) area and went to the local station PSP, explaining that he was kidnapped at gunpoint.
PSP says the man reported that he was kidnapped in his own home and that he was “violently attacked and threatened with a firearm” with an alleged refusal to hand over documents required by the three detainees.
The case was transferred to the SP, in charge of investigating the crimes in question, at 4 am on Tuesday, after which the National Counter-Terrorism Unit (UNCT) was called in.
