Marco Orellas, his son Renato, his son-in-law Paulo Cardoso and four other defendants will begin their trial for the death of Igor Silva this Thursday at the São João Novo court in Porto.
Upon arrival at the court, the defendants were met with insults from Igor Silva’s mother, who repeatedly shouted: “You are monsters.”
Igor Silva was killed with 18 stab wounds outside Porto’s Dragao stadium during title celebrations in May 2022.

Then he left, and so did I. I didn’t see what happened. I swear I didn’t see Igor being stabbed to death,” states

Renato Goncalves admits that he only stabbed Igor Silva once. He explains that after the clashes between Benfica and Porto during the title celebrations at the Dragao Stadium in Porto, new problems arose.
“Igor stabbed my father twice and he fell. At some point, I saw a knife on the floor, picked it up and hit Igor in the ribs on the right side. Then I got scared and ran home,” he says.
The defendant further explains that only the next day he saw on television that Igor had died.
“They stabbed the boy 18 times, but I only stabbed him once,” the young man said, guaranteeing that he did not know who inflicted the other blows.
