Doctors on duty will earn a maximum of 33 euros per hour

Doctors on duty will earn a maximum of 33 euros per hour, according to the order published this Thursday in the Diário da República, but in exceptional situations the payment can reach 46 euros, according to the National Federation of Doctors (FNAM).

FNAM believes the amount paid per hour to on-call doctors has “fallen sharply” but continues to be “much higher” than that of a permanent NHS doctor. 20 and 150 euros, depending on the specialty.

FNAM also denounced hospitals “forcing doctors” to comply with “Dedication of Dedication” (DP), unilaterally changing contracts and threatening to transfer specialists to another workplace “without agreement”. FNAM believes that the DP contains provisions that are unconstitutional, such as increasing the annual limit of additional hours from 150 to 250 hours or increasing daily working hours to 9 hours.
