This Thursday, BE accused PSD, PS and IL of a “political decision” by voting to increase the limits on direct budget adjustments for World Youth Day, which now has a “shameful altar” as a result.
Parliamentary debate this afternoon was about planning a draft IL resolution to audit the TAP nationalization process, but in her speech, BE MP Mariana Mortagua defended that while all audits are “welcome”, they are not a substitute for “debate by choice of policy.
“Proof of this is that, for example, in the State Budget, when an article was voted to increase the direct adjustment limit for World Youth Day, there were parties that made a political choice. The SDP made a political choice to increase the direct adjustment limit, PS accompanied the PSD in this increase in direct adjustments, and IL accompanied PS and PSD to increase adjustment limits,” he said.
According to the BE deputy, “now they are amazed that the consequence of their political decision was the direct investment of four million euros in the erection of a shameful altar that has no logic and no protection.”
“This decision, without defense or explanation, is the result of a political decision taken in the Assembly of the Republic by the votes of the SDP, PS and IL,” he said.
The outright adjustment of the construction of a stage altar in Lisbon for World Youth Day has generated controversy in recent days.
