An elderly couple, 75 years old, were found dead early in the afternoon at their home in Assento, in the parish of Ribeira, in Terras de Boro. According to the Terra de Buro Fire Department, the alarm was sounded around 1:50 p.m.
Based on what Correio da Mañan learned, neighbors told GNR that they noticed the couple was missing as they usually walked along the street during the day.
The firefighters of Terras de Buro were called to the scene, but they could do nothing for the elderly people, who had been dead for more than 48 hours and were not yet in a state of decomposition. Having arrived at the scene, rescuers still noticed a strong smell of gas.
Judicial police were called to the scene and are conducting an investigation. All open scenarios are on the table, including an accidental gas leak or the couple deciding to commit suicide.
