Twenty-nine surfers, Portuguese and foreign, ranging in age from 15 to 40, were rescued this Saturday at 17:35 from a large body of water on Carcavelos beach in Cascais.
The alarm was raised at 17:25 after swimmers (the beach is very busy this Saturday afternoon due to good weather) realized that the group was stranded.
The shipwrecked institute’s lifeboat was immediately called and managed to rescue 24 people. Everyone was taken to the Oeiras marina.
The remaining five were pulled ashore by rescuers hired by the Cascais municipality during the winter.
