“I won’t stop until I get an Olympic medal”: swimmer Diogo Ribeiro arrived in Portugal

Diogo Ribeiro arrived in Portugal this Monday morning having won two gold medals. at the World Aquatics Championships held in Doha, Qatar.

“It’s incredible for me to win these two gold medals. I’m 19 years old, but I still have work to do,” he explains. He adds that he won’t stop “until I get an Olympic medal.”

The swimmer says he dreams of the Olympics and that winning a medal at the competition “is a dream come true.”

“We can’t get ahead of ourselves. Every time I win a medal, I keep working,” he says, explaining that he “always wants more.”

For Diogo, the support of family and friends is a big help, and he feels grateful because even “even with all the money and travel, they are always there.”

He also thanks Benfica and its sponsors, but says “more needs to be invested in the sport.”

“It could be the most popular sport in the Olympics and you have to invest.”

He concludes by saying that he “feels good and confident for the next challenge” but that at this point he will “rest because without rest there is no achievement.”
