The PSP will inform the Public Ministry about this Monday’s march and the concentration of police near the Capitol in Lisbon, since the protest was not authorized, a source in the National Directorate told Lusa.
The PSP representative stated that the concentration of PSP and GNR elements in the Praça do Comércio square was authorized and brought to the attention of the competent authority, which is the City Council of Lisbon (CML).
However, this was not the case with the subsequent parade through Rua da Prata, Praça do Rossio and Avenida da Liberdade, as well as the gathering outside the Capitol.
Sergio Soares explained that since the protest was not transmitted to the CML, the law requires that the communication be sent to the Ministry of Justice.
Earlier, the commander in charge of policing at the Capitol told Lusa that the demonstration was not authorized and that its organizers would be identified.
The police went to the Capitol, where the election debate between the leaders of the PS and PSD took place this Monday, after about 3,000 members of the PSP and GNR gathered in Praça do Comércio, next to the Ministry of Internal Administration (MAI). ).
Unlike the demonstration at Praça do Comércio, organized by a platform uniting the PSP unions and the GNR associations, the protest near the Capitol was marked on social networks by the “inop movement” and did not have the participation of a union platform.
Many of the police massed at the Capitol demobilized during the debate, but some were still there around 10 p.m.
Members of the PSP and GNR have been protesting for over a month now, demanding an allowance identical to that given to the judicial police.
