According to a decree published in Diário da República this Friday, the government fired the Minister of Agriculture.
The Decree “On the organization and mode of operation of the XXIII Constitutional Government” states that “the Minister of Agriculture and Food is assisted in the performance of her functions by the Minister of Fisheries.”
The position was last held by Carla Alves, who left after news of the seizure of accounts due to a lawsuit filed by her husband Américo Pereira. The Minister of Agriculture is Maria do Seu Antunes, and now the only secretary of state associated with the ministry is fisheries.
The affairs of the Minister of Agriculture will now be provided by the Minister, justifies the government.
The Secretary of State for the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, André Moz Caldas, in Luce’s statements, invoked national legislation to justify that “the Secretary of State does not have its own competence” delegated only by ministers, and that the Minister of Agriculture and Food, Maria do Seu Antunes, will “execute” the issues , which was assured by the outgoing Secretary of State Carla Alves.
