Pedro Nuno Santos once again challenges the PSD to say what he will do if the PS wins

Socialist Party Secretary General Pedro Nuno Santos returned on Tuesday to challenge the PSD leader to say what he would do if the Socialists win the March 10 legislative elections with a relative majority.

“Luis Montenegro and the PSD have yet to say what they will do when the PS wins the elections. What will they do if they take second place?” asked the Socialist leader this afternoon during an election rally at the Castro Verde health center. center (Beja).

Pedro Nuno Santos referred to Monday’s televised face-to-face with Luis Montenegro, during which the two leaders were asked whether they would make the opposing party’s government viable if defeated on March 10.

“I did not assume anyone’s victory or defeat, that’s how the Portuguese decide. I answered the question they asked me and said with all honesty what I would do,” the PS Secretary General explained to reporters, believing that his answer to this question during the debate was “perfectly clear.”

“We will only govern if we win the elections or if we can present a government solution with majority support. And we will not make any other solution impossible,” he stressed.

In the opposition, he continued, “the SDP leader is still summing up the debate that went poorly and continues to evade the question he was asked.”

“This question is now on the side of the SDP, which must respond for reasons of clarity and directness in public debate,” he noted.

The General Secretary of the PS considered it “very important that Luis Montenegro does not just hide in the ‘no, no’.” [a uma coligação com o Chega] and tell all the Portuguese what you will do when the PS wins the elections.”

“We need that answer or we’ll all start to doubt what he says about ‘no, no.’ Because on the other side there is a party that declares that it has a full guarantee that it will govern if the majority is right,” he concluded.

The leader of the Socialist Party participated in the electoral campaign for the legislative elections of Baixo Alentejo, passing through Beja, Castro Verde and Almodóvar.

Portugal will hold early legislative elections on March 10, 2024, planned by the President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, following the resignation of Prime Minister António Costa on November 7, which was the subject of an investigation by the Ministry of State in Portugal. Supreme Court Court.

The election campaign for legislative elections will take place from February 25 to March 8.
