Mariana Mortagua criticizes ‘far-right campaign’ in grandmother’s income case

The BE coordinator this Thursday refused to “join the far-right campaign” and confirmed that her statements were true, claiming that her grandmother’s income could have jumped if this invention had not suspended the application of the “Christas Law”.

Mariana Mortagua took advantage of her speech at a lunch with trade unionists who support the BE candidacy in the next elections on March 10 to make a “side reference” to the news in the magazine Sábado this Thursday about the rent paid to the blocking grandmother of the coordinator.

“Only those who really want to join far-right campaigns join far-right campaigns. I said and claimed that my grandmother lived in the same house for 69 years. She was 80 years old when she discovered that at 85, your income can skyrocket. Articles 35 and 36 of the law,” he repeated.

According to the bloc leader, such a rent increase “would have happened if the invention had not suspended the operation of the Christas Law,” that is, the rental law.

“And not a single fact contradicts me for the simple reason that everything I said is true,” he emphasized.

According to Mariana Mortagua, “the far right is today making a second attempt to intoxicate this election campaign,” the topic of which is the PSD and CDS rental law “and reference to the example” of her grandmother.

“This second attempt by the far right is as ridiculous as the first and will suffer the same fate: it will show the embarrassment of the defenders of a rent law that was cruel, that attacked people and which these right-wing parties want to restore. “Apply, they want to restore it again,” he criticized.

The BE coordinator left a warning: “Convince yourself of one thing. We are here to protect grandmothers, the elderly, to protect everyone who is attacked by this cruel law, and to protect the right to housing.”

The fight for the right to housing, Mortagua said, will be waged “with the same determination, with the same determination” as the fight for the right to work.

“And we know that we are uncomfortable, but we are here to fight this fight without hesitating for a second,” he stressed.
