The President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, mourned the death of national football coach Artur Jorge this Thursday, expressing his most sincere condolences to his family, according to an official statement published on the website of the President of the Republic.
“Arthur Jorge will always be remembered for his career as a football coach and, among the various titles he won, winning the European Cup in 1987. During his career, Artur Jorge was a selector for the national football team, coach of several historic clubs in Portugal and abroad, where he also achieved important titles,” the statement said.
Arthur Jorge, former Portuguese coach and coach of the European champion FC Porto, died this Thursday at the age of 78.
