Paulo Raimundo criticized the debate around post-election scenarios

PCP Secretary General Paulo Raimundo this Friday devalued the debate on political governance scenarios after the legislative elections, considering them to be “side issues” and not meeting the needs of the people.

“The more time we spend discussing scenarios, the less time we have to talk about concrete answers, and there are many parties that want to move away from this debate. They prefer to talk about scenarios rather than concrete answers,” the leader said communists. after a meeting with the Portuguese Sports Confederation at the party’s headquarters in Lisbon.

Not wanting to deviate from what he considers fundamental for the population, Paulo Raimundo reiterated that “the future will be determined by the result that the PKP/CDU will have” in the elections of March 10, and not by the scenarios that are predicted today, criticizing “clocks and hours” debate” about expressions, about what was said and what was not said, and not about the problems of citizens.

“As at other points in history, the CDU will do what it has, which is to ensure that there is a response to wages, the National Health Service, labor laws, the housing drama, the needs of this national sports plan that we want to implement in our the country… that’s what it’s for. With the guarantee that whoever votes for the CDU, we will never have the possibility of a political failure that will take us back to those dark times of the Troika,” he added.

Regarding Friday night’s debate with other party leaders, the PCP general secretary suggested he intends to “promote clarity” and expects them to focus on what he considers fundamental to the country, such as “deepening democracy, pay issues, the NHS” or issues that affect people.

Asked whether debates could be crucial for undecided voters, Paulo Raimundo emphasized that debates should have a clarifying role rather than being “too confusing” and preferred to value the direct contact he had with the population.

“Everything we do contributes to clarity, and by clarifying it helps reduce the number of undecided voters; and through this reduction, strengthening and expanding confidence in the CDU. It is possible to get an excellent result in the elections, which determines future options,” he said, praising the “very lively and exciting contacts” of recent days in the Northern region.

On the day the CGTP congress begins, following the departure of Secretary General Isabel Camarinha and her replacement in this post by Tiago Oliveira, the communist leader called the event “the culmination of democracy and the trade union movement.”

Hoping to strengthen the unions’ ability to make demands and act, Paulo Raimundo also praised Isabel Camarinho “for the extremely important role she played during this period as Secretary General” as well as the “successes of the new management bodies.”
