The GNR’s Coastal and Border Control Unit (UCCF) seized nearly three tons of hashish and a high-speed boat on the Guadiana River early Friday morning, according to security forces.
In a statement, the GNR said the semi-rigid vessel was detected entering the Guadiana Bar as part of a coordinated patrol between the Spanish Guardia Civil’s Integrated External Surveillance System (SIVE) and the Command’s Integrated Surveillance System. and control (SIVICC) GNR.
“As a result, a maritime patrol from the Ollana Coastal Control Unit was immediately activated to intercept and board the vessel, which was sailing while concealing its signal lights,” the note said.
Thanks to the actions of the police, they were able to intercept a ship carrying 80 bales of hashish and prevent the unloading of the drug, weighing a total of 2,997 kilograms.
Authorities also seized a 12-meter boat, five fuel cans, various electronic equipment and navigation equipment. However, in the presence of the GNR maritime patrol, the suspects fled on foot towards Spanish territory.
The facts were transferred to the Department of Investigation and Criminal Affairs (DIAP) of Vila Real de Santo António.
