A suitcase containing the woman’s remains was found Friday in a vacant lot in Vigo, Spain. The suitcase was found by a courier wrapped in plastic, the department’s press service reported. La Voz de Galicia.
An employee alerted authorities after seeing the vermin and smelling a foul odor. Arriving at the scene, the police opened the suitcase and discovered a decomposed body.
A woman living nearby said the suitcase had been there since August last year.
The alarm was raised at 16:00 local time (15:00 in Lisbon), and at 18:00 local time (17:00 in Lisbon) the body was taken out for autopsy. According to La Voz de Galicia, the death could have occurred several months ago.
Police also seized a shopping cart that was at the scene to check whether it was used to transport the body.
The victim has not yet been identified.
