Former Prime Minister Pedro Passos Coelho will attend a Democratic Alliance rally early this Monday evening in Faro.
The announcement was made by AD leader Luis Montenegro, who invited journalists to an event after visiting a farm in Beja.
“As part of this peaceful campaign work, we have spoken to people and we will have the opportunity to have with us several people who have been responsible, past and present, for the political work of the parties that make up this coalition. In particular, SDP. I would like to invite you later to attend a rally in Faro, where Dr. Pedro Passos Coelho will take part,” Montenegro said.
When asked what this participation would entail, the SDP leader simply replied: “We’ll see.”
The question of whether Passos Coelho, who led the PSD between 2010 and 2018, would participate in the campaign was a topic and even entered into a debate in which Luis Montenegro participated.
On February 19, face to face with PS leader Pedro Nuno Santos, he said that it was “not by chance” that Montenegro did not involve Pedro Passos Coelho in the election campaign, “and did not invite him to the AD congress.” where Pedro Santana Lopez and Ferreira Leite were present.
“In fact, it was important to have former leaders on our side, and I will use them in the election campaign,” the PSD chairman responded then.
The meeting in Faro is scheduled for 19:00 at the Algarve Hotel and Tourism School.
