Millennium/BCP recorded profits of more than 2.3 million euros per day last year, amounting to 856 million euros, the bank led by Miguel Maia reported this Monday. This is the highest value since at least 2007, taking into account data published on the bank’s official website.
These results are four times higher than the €197.4 million recorded in 2022.
“These are good results, today it seems that companies are ashamed to present the results, we are very proud to present positive results,” said Miguel Maia at a press conference in Taguspark in Oeiras, given that with this the bank contributes to the development of Portugal and the retention of young qualified workers in the country.
The four largest private banks operating in Portugal had a combined profit of €3.153 million in 2023, up 81.9% from 2022, according to Lusa.
The net results of these banks were therefore higher than those recorded at the end of 2022, amounting to EUR 1,419.5 million, which continued to be driven by rising interest rates on loans.
Among private companies, Santander Totta was the company with the highest profit in 2023. With growth of 69.8%, Santander Totta’s profits exceeded €1,030 million in 2023, up from €606.7 million in 2022.
Among the major banks, only CGD is yet to open an account.
