“Public administration workers especially feel the devaluation of their careers and lack of recognition. They feel it’s unfair to see that those who enroll now have starting salaries equal to those who have been here 10, 15 or 20 years. That’s not the problem. with those who join now because their salaries are also low; the problem is the lack of recognition and assessment of the careers of those who have been there for 10, 15 or 20 years,” he concluded.
The leader of the Unitary Democratic Coalition (CDU, which unites PCP and PEV) said career and salary issues “must be resolved once and for all”, he addressed almost 200 people present in this legislative election campaign. March 10, to give “more strength” to the CDU.
“None of this has a resolution that gives more strength to the PS. There are two years of the absolute majority demonstrating to themselves what is not worth explaining. He referred to the “work” and “strength” of the communists in eliminating the PSD and SDS from the government in 2015, and also emphasized that valorizing workers “is a fundamental axis” for the party, but also “a defining element without which the country does not develop.” .
Paulo Raimundo also took aim at large economic groups, for which he called for more efficient taxation, the end of tax breaks or the end of public-private partnerships, lamenting that in Portugal “it’s the other way around”, where there are “a privileged minority and a rigid majority”.
“There is only one way to change: give the CDU more strength, more votes and more deputies,” he said, continuing: “This is a vote of protest and decisions that are imposed on wages, pensions and instability.”
More than 10.8 million Portuguese are called to vote on March 10 to elect 230 members of the Assembly of the Republic.
