Montenegro does not want voters to be confused by the abbreviations AD and ADN on ballot papers

This Thursday, the PSD President expressed concern by specifying that the coalition he leads is the Democratic Alliance (AD), noting that many voters confuse this acronym with that of the National Democratic Alternative (ADN) party.

“I don’t want anyone who wants to vote for ADN to vote for AD, I don’t want that to happen. But above all, I don’t want this to happen, so that all the people, and there are many of them, who want to vote for AD, vote for ADN,” Luis Montenegro told reporters in the municipality of Ancian, Leiria district.

“So I think it is our responsibility, and now the responsibility of journalists, to be able to educate people so that what is the inner will of a person, the real will of a person, manifests itself in the form of voting,” he added.

The SDP president spoke to reporters during a visit to a textile company, where he said he had no intention of increasing his personal security after he was sprayed with paint on Wednesday: “I don’t plan to do that.”

During the election campaign for early legislative elections on March 10, the PSD president emphasized at least twice at rallies that the coalition he led “contains the abbreviation AD” and “three symbols” on the ballot papers. , SDP, SDS-NP and PPM and has nothing to do with “the other candidate, which is ADN”.

When asked this Thursday whether he issued this warning because of the polls, Luis Montenegro replied: “No, mainly because we have received a lot of concerns from many voters who are confused when they see imitation ballots.”

The PSD chairman said there are “obviously similarities” between the acronyms AD and ADN, a party that appears on the ballot in some constituencies ahead of the PSD/CDS-PP/PPM coalition.

“People need to explain this point of view as well,” he said.
