President Chegi this Saturday considered that the presence of former leaders in the PS and SDP campaigns represents a “parade of antiquities” and stressed that his party wants to be the future.
“Cavaco Silva’s call for a vote in the AD is just normal, he was the leader of the PSD, he is part of the PSD. What is becoming more noticeable? The fact that the PS and SDP are a parade of antiquities is nothing new about them. ,” He said.
Andre Ventura believed that “this is a parade of the past, Chega wants to be a parade of the future.”
Speaking to reporters upon arriving at a lunch/rally in Coimbra, President Chegi was asked about Cavaco Silva’s opinion piece. The former president of the republic is calling for an AD vote, warning that opting for “extremist protest parties” will only favor the election of Socialist leader Pedro Nuno Santos, who says he has no profile for the post of prime minister.
Andre Ventura said this support from opponents was “hampering” his campaign.
“I don’t know who they call extremist parties, but if they mean Chegu, then Chegu is very comfortable being the party of the future,” he emphasized.
Also mentioning the presence of outgoing Prime Minister António Costa in the PS election campaign this Saturday evening, the Chegi leader said that the Socialists and Social Democrats are “absolutely dependent on the past.”
“I am convinced that Chega is the party of the future and that AD and PS are at the parade of old things. Old things are not in a bad sense, they are antiques, that’s what I wanted to say.”
