This Saturday, a firefighter was attacked and other family members of an injured man who asked for help were insulted and threatened at the Muran barracks in the Evora region, the corporation commander said.
The incident, Murano fire chief Fábio Quintas told Lusa, occurred around 12:10 p.m. when a group of seven people came to the barracks to ask for help for one of them who had been shot in the head.
“When they arrived at the barracks, they rang the bell, and when one of our firefighters went to open the gate, the victim’s father crashed a van into the gate, damaged the automation and began to attack the fireman,” he said.
According to the commander of the Alentejo corporation, the firefighter was hit in the face and grabbed by the neck, but refused to be transported to the hospital because he had no injuries.
The attacked corporate member “pushed the man and walked away, and other operatives came” to his aid, Fabio Quintas said, stressing that the PNP officer who arrived on the scene was also called.
Speaking to Lusa, a source from the PPR territorial command in Évora said that the suspect had been identified and that the Guard would prepare a traffic accident report and a breach of integrity report.
In statements to Lusa, the Murana fire service commander said the corporation had already lodged a complaint with the GNR, noting that the barracks were under CCTV surveillance and the images collected would be shared with the gardaí.
“We will continue this until the final consequences are obtained,” he stressed.
Regarding the victim, Fabio Quintas noted that firefighters helped the victim, who subsequently refused transport to a medical facility.
In a statement posted on social media today, the corporation reports the incident and announces, as a preventive measure, that the perimeter of the barracks is closed to non-duty personnel and that anyone who goes there will be required to ring a bell. .
