This Sunday, a PAN representative warned of problems with the planning of the area near the Alges train station in Oeiras, Lisbon district, and recalled the latest floods in this place.
“We cannot forget that here at Algés station, where we are located, there is a phenomenon of floods and [sente-se] lack of territorial planning. (…) This is a problem that covers the whole country,” he emphasized to reporters.
The head of the Lisbon PAN list for the legislative elections on the 10th spoke at the entrance to the pedestrian tunnel leading to the Alges train station, contrary to the original plan. The party had a planned initiative for 12 pm at the Mercado de Alges, but it did not take place.
“We just need to look at what is being done in the Costa Vicentina with the intensive development and occupation of territory or even the destruction of natural areas to make way for luxury developments that endanger the safety of the population,” he continued.
Ines Souza Real believes that Oeiras is no exception and that the floods caused by bad weather have demonstrated the importance of having policies to combat climate change, as well as decarbonizing mobility.
“We know that people are sympathetic to the ideas that PAN represents, that they want a society that has more protection for animals, that has more respect for human and social rights, but also that they agree with the concerns that it is also the legacy we leave for future generations in the form of less climate impact,” he added.
More than 10.8 million Portuguese are called to vote on the 10th to elect 230 members of the Assembly of the Republic.
18 political forces are competing in these elections – 15 parties and three coalitions.
