A mother, daughter and grandchildren, a five-month-old baby and a three-year-old child were not affected by the fire that destroyed part of their house on Saturday evening in Antas, Esposende. The family had to be relocated.
The fire alarm was received at 23:50. Firefighters from Esposende immediately called three vehicles and ten people to the scene to put out the flames.
The fire caused significant damage to the roof and two rooms.
“Upon the arrival of rescuers, the roof was engulfed in flames and was quickly extinguished, despite the damage that had been done in the meantime,” explained Julio Melo, commander of the Esposende fire department.
The official also said that the tenants “two adults and two children were left homeless, as the housing is uninhabitable.”
