The President of the Lisbon City Council this Friday accused the PS of being “fear of democracy” and considered that in this legislative election campaign, Luis Montenegro was “the only adult in the room”.

At the last election rally of the Democratic Alliance (AD) in Campo Pequeno (in Lisbon), Moedas’ intervention was interrupted by supporters shouting “Vitoria, Vitoria” or “Friend Luis, the people are with you.”

In his second intervention in this campaign, the mayor of Lisbon returned to the idea he had already abandoned in Évora, that in Sunday’s early legislative elections “democracy is at stake” and that “the country cannot return to the party system” . lonely”.

“I see a PS that only campaigns for ghosts, that runs campaigns based on the fear of democratic change, on the fear of change. My friends, the PS is afraid of democracy, the PS today is a party that is afraid of democratic change,” he said between whistles when he mentioned the name of his main political opponent.

The mayor said that “only AD can put an end to this PS, which considers itself the owner of the country, the owner of the state and the owner of the people,” and praised the position of PSD President Luis Montenegro. , over the past two weeks.

“If we had to define this campaign in one sentence, it would be this: Luis Montenegro was the adult present in this campaign,” he said, praising the attitude, moderation and calm of the Social Democratic leader.

Moedas appealed mainly to undecided voters with the argument that the country’s governability would also be at stake in these elections.

“Years and years pass by incompetence of the PS, years and years during which the PS is of no use to the people, it has ceased to be useful to the people to be useful to itself,” he said, adding that the government had promised a “bed of roses.” and “put an end to the storms” of the Portuguese.

The mayor of Lisbon made a special appeal to the young people who “contributed” to his election in 2021.

Citing his personal example, Moedas said that it was AD (the coalition that united in 1979, as now, PSD, CDS-PP and PPM) that allowed “a young man from Alentejo from a poor family to come to Lisbon at the age of 18, without anyone without knowing, and achieve success in life through merit.”
