The PKP’s central committee meets on Tuesday and will analyze the results of Sunday’s legislative elections, in which the party lost two deputies, and the conclusions of the meeting will be presented on Wednesday by the communist general secretary.
According to the agenda sent to the editorial office, this meeting of the communist body, in addition to analyzing the election results, will also discuss the political and social situation, as well as “political actions and initiatives of the party.”
“The main conclusions of the meeting will be presented by Secretary General Paulo Raimundo at a press conference to be held on Wednesday the 13th at 11 am at the headquarters of Soeiro Pereira Gomes in Lisbon,” he adds. note.
This Sunday, the CDU recorded its worst result in the history of legislative elections, losing another 36 thousand votes and falling from six to four deputies, further exacerbating its defeat in the 2022 elections.
With only 3.3% of the votes, according to preliminary results excluding émigré circles, the Unitary Democratic Coalition (CDU, uniting PKP and PEV) did not receive more than 202,565 votes, representing a drop of one percentage point compared to 4.3% two years ago and the 238,962 votes reached then.
The result puts the CDU in sixth place in both percentage and number of deputies, behind PS, AD, Chega, IL and BE, and narrowly ahead of Livret, which also received four deputies but was left with around three deputies. a thousand fewer votes than the coalition.
In terms of mandates, the parliamentary composition of the PKP increased from six deputies – the smallest at the moment – to four.
The deputies of the PCP will be the Secretary General Paulo Raimundo, who was elected by Lisbon and made his debut in Parliament, the “historic” António Filipe, who now returns to the Parliament in Lisbon, the previous parliamentary leader Paula Santos, who managed the elections in Setúbal and Alfredo Maia, who retained representation in district of Porto.
In 2022, for the first time, the HDZ will no longer be represented in the Alentejo after the loss of deputy João Dias, as well as the fall in Setúbal, where Bruno Dias failed to be elected number two on the list.
