This Monday, the President of the Republic released a diploma that extends the deadline for exceptional measures to simplify procedures for the production of renewable energy, such as reducing the need for environmental impact assessments (EIA) outside sensitive areas.
A note published on the president’s website said Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa had promulgated “a decree-law that expands exceptional measures to simplify procedures for the production of energy from renewable sources.”
The government approved the change on 22 February, which aims to “ensure the progress made by these measures, as well as the relevance they acquire to achieving the goals set at national and European level, especially in relation to reducing dependence on fossil energies and accelerating the energy transition “, says the statement of the Council of Ministers.
