The Liberal Initiative (IL) prefers not to join the future Democratic Alliance (AD) government, it said in a statement on Wednesday. SIC.
The mandates received in the legislative elections of the SDP, SDS-PP and IL do not correspond to the minimum required to form an absolute majority in parliament (116 deputies).
Given Sunday’s results, the party led by Rui Rocha realized that it would be futile either to participate in the future executive led by Luis Montenegro, president of the Social Democrats, or to sign any agreement on parliamentary influence.
To preserve the autonomy of all party forces, IL prefers to negotiate each budget with the SDP and SDS-NP.
IL’s audience with the President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, is scheduled for Friday.
