The man wanted for human trafficking was a TVDE driver and lived in Lisbon.

He lived in Lisbon for more than two years, earning his living as a TVDE driver. The 29-year-old Asian man tried not to stand out. After all, he knew that he was wanted by German authorities for crimes related to facilitating illegal immigration, and any mistake could mean the trafficker going to prison. But there was no need for control. A new PSP unit, the Tracing and Missing Persons Unit, obtained a European arrest warrant (issued by Germany at the end of January), went to the scene and apprehended the fugitive.

According to CM The man integrated with the police source and carried out his professional activities as a TVDE (passenger transport in unmarked vehicles and through online platforms) without problems. This Wednesday he appeared before the Lisbon Court of Appeal and will await the extradition process to Germany in pre-trial detention.

The Wanted and Missing Persons Centre, operating under PSP’s Criminal Investigations Directorate, was created to speed up the response to arrest warrants – national and international – and take a “new approach” to missing persons cases, a police source said. The intention is to create regional groups in the north, the centre, Lisbon and the Tagus Valley, the south and Madeira.
