PSD President Luis Montenegro is already in the Belem Palace to meet with the President of the Republic Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa this Wednesday.
The leader of the Democratic Alliance arrived at the meeting accompanied by Nuno Melo, leader of the CDS-PP.
The meeting came after a series of meetings planned by the head of state to prepare the next government, scheduled after the March 10 legislative elections. The Social Democrat is the latest party leader to be accepted by Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, representing the right-wing coalition Aliança Democrática (AD).
AD with 29.49% won 79 deputies in the Assembly of the Republic in the legislative elections on March 10 against 77 for the PS (28.66%), followed by Chega with 48 elected deputies (18.06%). The counting of emigrant votes will end this Wednesday.
IL with eight seats, BE with five and PAN with one, maintained the number of MPs. Livre went from one elected representative to four, and the CDU lost two seats and gained four seats in parliament.
