PAN advocates public service evaluation, but is against the Trojan horse of failure

A PAN spokesman assured this Wednesday that the party would vote on proposals to improve careers in the civil service, but rejected the possibility that possible budget amendments could act as a “Trojan horse” for “civilizational failures.”

At the end of the meeting of PAN and BE, at the request of the blockers of the left parties and environmentalists after the results of the legislative elections, Ines de Sousa Real was asked about the openness expressed the day before by the leader of the PS regarding the possibility of correcting the AD budget, limited to “questions of consensus”, meaning an increase in the scale salaries for some professional groups in public administration.

“PAN will do [hoje] this is a discussion at the headquarters of the National Political Commission. However, I cannot help but mention that for the PAP, fundamental rights and social rights cannot serve as bargaining chips,” he began by answering.

According to Ines de Souza Real, “it is very important that this path is taken to increase the value” of these quarries, she regrets that both PS and PSD did not follow PAN in these matters because they “could already be resolved”, citing as an example, the risk of subsidizing security forces.

“From our point of view, this is a path that needs to be taken, but it cannot serve as a Trojan horse so that we can then create civilizational failures, such as the VAT problem on bullfighting or even tax breaks for the biggest polluters.” . and most of the profits are in our country,” he warned.

Faced with the persistence of journalists, the PAN representative transferred this and other positions to today’s meeting of the party body, but left a guarantee: “we are and will always be on the side of the professionals.”

“These are issues that we have already outlined, we do not create cordons sanitaires on these issues, especially since we believe that people’s rights cannot be a bargaining chip, they cannot be a political toy here, guaranteeing either state stability or, on the other hand, “I’m here to anticipate a potential electoral moment,” he insisted.

In this way, the PAN will vote “on what this valorization could be”, remembering that these are proposals that it has already presented to the Assembly of the Republic.

On Tuesday, speaking to journalists at the Belem Palace, after an audience of about two hours with the President of the Republic, Pedro Nuno Santos stressed that there are no left-wing governments, so the role of the PS will be to lead the party. opposition.

The PS leader said that the fact that the party leads the opposition does not mean that it will not be a “responsible opposition” and, despite the fact that it will not vote on “documents or legislative initiatives on issues with which it does not agree” , it will also not oppose agreements “on issues on which there are common points of view.”

“From the outset and throughout the campaign, it was clear to everyone that there was a broad consensus, going beyond the PS and AD themselves, about the need to value the careers and pay levels of certain professional groups in public administration,” he stressed.

The PS Secretary General noted that he was referring to “teachers, security forces, health workers” and judicial officials, and assured that the PS is ready to find with the future government “a solution that will allow professionals to resolve their situation by the end of the summer.”

“Given that there may be a need to change spending limits, we are prepared to facilitate budget amendments that are limited to matters of consensus,” he said.
