The general secretary of the PKP said on Monday that the social situation is explosive and said that if the government does not respond to the problems, the vast majority of the PS will not guarantee anything, because people will not wait four years.
“We are in an explosive situation from a social point of view (…) and no answers are given to this. The problem is that the absolute majority of the PS in itself does not guarantee that it will reach the end, because if it is in a situation where there is no correspondence to the problems of the country and the problems of society, the society will find ways to solve this,” said Paulo Raimundo.
The PCP General Secretary spoke to reporters in Beja shortly after addressing the opening of the PCP Parliamentary Days, which take place Monday through Tuesday in the Alentejo area.
The Communist leader stressed that the population will not “wait four years to afford the same policies that oppress them more and more.”
When asked if the people have the opportunity to allow the fall of the government, Paulo Raimundo replied: “The people always have everything in their hands.”
“Either there is a political response from the government to solve the problem of the majority of the people and at the same time fight this shame of these accumulated profits in the hands of the few, or people should act more strongly against this policy,” he repeated.
“A government of two, three: either gives in, in a good way to give an answer, or it has no other choice but to leave,” he added.
Then, when asked whether the way for the PKP would be through early elections, Paulo Raimundo answered in the negative.
“No, we have no choice with the elections, and we do not want to make any effort for this. We want the government to have all the tools in its hands, including an absolute majority, to obey, to give answers. , solve people’s problems, this is our whole commitment. By themselves, early elections do not solve anything,” he said.
Paulo Raimundo believes that the time for the government to provide the necessary answers “is running out, a year has passed with all the conditions.”
“If you still haven’t given the answers, there is still time to change everything… The signs that we see are not in this direction,” he warned.
Asked if the response of the PKP is street, Raimundo said that his party’s response is to “discuss”, meet and talk “with people, look for solutions and present proposals at the institutional level”.
“Of course, the street too. People cannot be squeezed for who they are, and they simply do not react. No, they must react,” he repeated.
The Secretary General of the PKP gave a “negative assessment” to the first year of the absolute majority, which is celebrated this Monday, saying that he makes this assessment “not necessarily because there is an absolute majority or not, because it is PS or not. PS”.
“The balance is negative because we are facing a social and economic situation that requires answers that the government does not provide. Not enough for essentials, and there are a few that are replenished in a big way and in French.” he criticized.
Asked what he expects from the prime minister in an interview this Monday evening, Paulo Raimundo said he hopes he will repeat again that “the government cannot focus on the problem of affairs, that it is necessary to respond to the problems of the people.” “.
“So whatever: fix the prices of essential goods, stop transferring public money to the private sector, as you did in energy, in highway concessions and so on. So that he does what he considers positive,” he stressed.
