The Civil Guard on Wednesday evening issued an arrest warrant for Luis Rubiales for alleged irregularities in the Spanish federation, according to a report Brand.
According to the same source, the former president of the federation is currently outside Spain, presumably in the Dominican Republic. The country does not have an extradition treaty with Spain.
Sources close to the investigation told EFE that the former RFEF leader will be arrested as soon as he sets foot on Spanish soil, and if he does not return, other measures will be taken.
The central operational unit of the Civil Guard carried out searches this Wednesday at the Spanish Football Federation (FEF) as part of an investigation into illegal contracts over the past five years.
