According to the SNS portal, the average waiting time for emergency patients exceeded 18:00 at 10:20 this Thursday morning at the Beatriz Angelo Hospital in Loures, where the waiting list numbered almost 60 people.
The wait time at Beatrice Angelo Hospital was 18 hours 33 minutes at 10:20 am, compared with the maximum recommended wait time of 60 minutes.
According to the data, 59 patients were waiting to see a doctor with a yellow bracelet (urgent).
The data presented on the NHS Portal relates to the average waiting time for care over the past two hours, and the number of patients represented illustrates the number of people currently waiting for care after screening.
Contacted by Lusa, representatives of the Beatriz Angelo Hospital, now officially known as Loures-Odivelas Local Health Unit, cited as the reason for the long waiting times the fact that the influx of patients into the Emergency Service remains “very high” and the number of hospital admissions is overcrowded.
“The hospital remains overcrowded, making it difficult for emergency patients to stay there,” the hospital said in a written response to Luse.
According to the hospital, there are currently 177 patients receiving care from the General Emergency Service.
Due to high demand, the hospital is increasing its appeal to users to contact the SNS24 line (808 24 24 24) before going to the hospital department.
