The payment of extraordinary support to heavy public passenger transport to compensate for rising fuel prices has been postponed for a month, until the end of April, according to a resolution of the Council of Ministers published this Monday.
The resolution published this Monday as part of the last meeting of the Council of Ministers of the António Costa government amends the resolution of December 11, now stipulating that the support “is supported by the Environmental Fund and the funds come from the State.” Budget 2023 or 2024, payable by April 30, 2024, in a single payment and after confirmation that the vehicles for which support is requested comply with the provisions of the previous paragraph.”
At stake is support of 16.2 million euros to offset the impact of rising fuel prices in the heavy public passenger transport sector for the period from 1 July to 31 December 2023, which will be implemented by the Environmental Protection Fund.
The previous resolution stated that the support was provided from the state budget for 2023, which will be paid until March 31, 2024.
“Since it was not possible to fulfill all expenses in a timely manner, it is important to amend the Council of Ministers Resolution No. 170/2023 of December 11 to review the source of their financing and set a longer period. carry out the payment of alimony,” says a document published this Monday in the Diário da República.
